In the coming weeks, teams from IQM and LRZ will set up the system step by step, cable it and cool it down. It will then be integrated into the LRZ systems, precisely calibrated and put through its paces before a test phase follows after completion of the technical work. In the course of 2027, the system will be available to users from Germany and Europe.
Researchers at universities and institutes as well as companies can apply for computing time on Euro-Q-Exa free of charge. In Germany, interested users can contact the LRZ directly with a short concept for the planned research project. Researchers and companies from Europe can access it by applying to the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU).
Since mid-September 2026, more than 37 teams from different disciplines have already been working with Euro-Q-Exa's quantum computing infrastructure.
Euro-Q-Exa is part of the European quantum computing offensive of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and is funded by the European Commission (EC), the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and the Bavarian Ministry of Science (StMWK).
