Welcome to the university,
if you’re studying in Munich, you can’t get around the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ). The data centre in Garching provides universities, colleges, and other academic institutions with the practical IT services you’ll need during your studies. So be sure to get your login credentials ready and use them to access:
At our booth we show you the services available to you with your new LMU ID:
- Your own secure and reliable LMU campus email address.
- Wi-Fi is available on campus and near research institutions or colleges, thanks to the Münchner Wissenschaftsnetz (MWN), which is operated by the LRZ. By the way, it’s also part of BayernWLAN.
- Through the MWN, you can access BayernShare, which provides you with 50 GB of data-protection-compliant cloud storage: This allows you to securely exchange files and collaborate with fellow students and instructors.
- Bayern Collab is a platform based on Confluence. You can create your own wikis for learning, documentation, and knowledge management. It offers even more opportunities to collaborate online from anywhere!

The LRZ offers more than just IT services for your studies; researchers can access supercomputers, AI systems, and the first quantum computers through us. If you’re interested in innovative IT and computer-aided research, subscribe to the LRZ newsletter.
