A Warm Welcome!
Dear first-year student!
We are pleased that you have found your digital way to the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre.
Most students know us as LRZ. Here we would like to briefly introduce ourselves.
And, of course, give you an insight into how the LRZ supports you in your studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität. More on this below.
We wish you a good start, much joy and success in your studies.
Sincerely,
Prof. Dr. Dieter Kranzlmüller Director LRZ |
Prof. Dr. Helmut Reiser Deputy Director LRZ |
The LRZ: your data centre
The LRZ is an institute of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities and provides the two Munich universities and colleges and other academic institutions in the greater Munich area with all the IT services they need.
Where do students come into contact with the LRZ?
When you log on to the WLAN with your LMU ID, you use the IT infrastructure of the Munich Scientific Network (Münchner Wissenschaftsnetz, short MWN). This is operated by the LRZ. | |
Via the MWN you can access the cloud storage LRZ Sync+Share. Sync+Share offers you 50 GB of secure cloud storage. You may use this also for collaboration with others. |
|
You are using your E-Mail adress CampusLMU? Then, again, you are using the IT infrastructure provided by LRZ. |
|
It is especially important to us to inform you about the professional anti-virus software SOPHOS, which you can also use for your private computers free of charge. |
You will find out more about this and the many other services offered by the LRZ on this webseite.
We are here for you
One more thing we would like to point out at this point: If you have any questions or encounter any problems, please contact the service desk at your university first. If they are unable to provide first support, we will of course be happy to help you! Please contact our Servicedesk at LRZ.
See you in the digital space: The LRZ on Social Media
