Applications

When you are logged into a system, you open a terminal window in the remote desktop, which you should see in the vncviewer or TurboVNC client window by clicking on “xterm” on the bottom left. Now you can launch an application via command line.

Launching applications

The main visualisation applications available on the remote visualisation servers are listed below. In addition, other software available via the module system can also be used on the remote visualisation systems.

To run run graphical applications use rvglrun of the VirtualGL package

    > rvglrun <programm>

To see all modules available for visualisation using the graphics card (usage of the module system is described here), enter

    > module avail –c graphics

Use module to load the environment of your desired software. Available graphical software packages are listed in the table below.
As an example, to use Paraview, enter the following

    > module load paraview
    > rvglrun paraview
