Parsing Blockchains with BlockSci for Feature Extraction & Price Indicators Within this project, BlockSci ( will be used to parse the Bitcoin blockchain which currently sizes 270GB. BlockSci allows the efficient extraction of features for further computation. Since the Bitcoin node stores the block data in an inefficient structure for data mining, it is computationally expensive to directly extract information from the node. Therefore the application of BlockSci is indispensable and allows a tremendous speed up for relevant data mining activities. The recommended requirements for BlockSci state resources similar to an AWS r5.2xlarge instance. Specifically, this includes 64GB of memory, 600GB of disk space and 8 vCPU. We anticipate a runtime of 6 months until the end of May 2020. The default quota of the ComputeCloud may not suffice for the aforementioned requirements. Therefore, we already ask for a possible adjustment of the quota to meet the hardware requirements.
