Advanced HPC Cluster Usage with R

Date: Friday, October 11, 2019, 9:00-12:30
Location: LRZ Building, Garching/Munich, Boltzmannstr. 1, LRZ Hörsaal
Contents:

The programming language R is increasingly used for data analysis with ever-growing data sets and computational demands. In such cases, parallelizsation is desirable and, for high performance cluster systems, conveniently facilitated by the Slurm Workload Manager and the batchtools package.

In this workshop, we will introduce advanced Slurm functionality and the batchtools package and demonstrate how these can be used to deploy highly parallelized tasks on LRZ high performance computing (HPC) systems.

Participants will be able to work on instructor-led excercises and hands-on examples. There will be breaks during the session.
