Abstract
We propose a multi-year project to calculate isospin breaking effects inthe strong interaction. This includes 1. the first calculation of the massdifference of the up and down quarks with all relevant effects taken intoaccount. 2. the first calculation of the isospin breaking effects on theQCD scale, that is necessary to convert any lattice QCD result forcomparing it with experiments 3. a full calculation of the isospin breakingeffects on the hadron vacuum polarization.In this year we address the electromagnetic part of the Omega baryon mass,and some of the largest isospin breaking contributions to the scale and thehadron vacuum polarization.
