Abstract
Stars form in dense cores, which are part of filaments that comprise molecular clouds. The filaments are subject to external and internal distortions, caused by turbulence or stellar feedback. In this project, we aim to study the time evolution of the dynamics, chemistry and star formation of filaments in magnetohydrodynamical simulations. We will systematically vary the crucial dynamical parameters, such as of the turbulence, magnetic field or cosmic ray flux. By using a high numerical resolution, we will be able to draw conclusions on the relation between core dynamics/chemistry and large-scale dynamics/chemistry, that is, on scales of the entire filament.
