Abstract
TEST-ACCOUNT APPLICATION:Free Surface 3D (FS3D) is an incompressible DNS multiphase CFD code based on the Volume-of-Fluid method in combination with the Piecewise Linear Interface Calculation method. It is fully parallelised with MPI and OpenMP. It is used for the calculation of highly resolved problems like primary jet breakup or droplet splashing on a wetted surface. In order to assess the suitability of Supermuc for FS3D simulations we plan to test the compilation of the code. We then would like to do some performance investigations. Finally, we will simulate one big jet breakup consisting of over one billion cells to test the working of our post-processing tools. If all of these steps are successful, we will move to a full project application.
