Abstract
We propose to deploy an existing data management system that was designed for operation on high performance computing platforms. This system is designed for the processing and calibration of large multi-band optical astronomical datasets (in particular the Dark Energy Survey dataset), and the key applications are for studies of cosmology and structure formation. We will test the system on both simulated and real data probe for any new bottlenecks and efficiencies on SuperMUC. If these initial tests go well we plan to submit a full proposal to use SuperMUC for the processing of the Dark Energy Survey and Pan-STARRS datasets. These processings will enable new studies of the evolution of the Universe.
