Hence the goal of this project is to study numerically an incompressible, fully developedturbulent Poiseuille ﬂow with wall transpiration i.e. a classical channel ﬂow with anextra transverse velocity with constant ﬂux on the wall. DNS of the ﬂow for a widerange of the key parameters Re and v0 (transpiration velocity) will be carried out totest a new theory based on Lie symmetries applied to the inﬁnite set of multi-pointcorrelation equations derived from the Navier-Stokes equations and to obtain the data onthe microstructure of turbulent motion that cannot be provided by any present theory.We are using a code with Fourier expansions in periodic and compact ﬁnite diﬀerencesin wall-normal directions, written in FORTRAN and parallelized using MPI. We have toperform diﬀerent DNS for diﬀerent Reynolds numbers Re, transpiration velocity v0 . Ouraim is to collect smooth statistics and instantaneous velocity ﬁelds to verify theoreticalresults. The present proposal is funded by the DFG grant KH 257/2-1 with the title:”Turbulent Couette-Poiseuille Flow with Wall Transpiration: Analytical Study and DirectNumerical Simulation”.
