SuperMUC-NG: Scheduled Maintenance starting June 14

Update (June 18, 17:00)

Unfortunately, we are still having some issues with the new system setup that will require work. This means that restart of user
opeation is delayed until early next week.

Dear users of SuperMUC-NG,

due to a combined infrastructure and system maintenance, the SuperMUC-NG system will be unavailable for access and job processing starting June 14, 2021 9:00 am.

Job processing will be phased out some days before this, due to a block operation with full machine runs.

The operational interruption is expected to last a full working week.

After the maintenance, a new operating environment (SLES 15) will be active, and a more recent version of Intel MPI will be made default.

For this reason, we strongly recommend that you recompile all your executables before running any jobs in the new environment.

In particular, the devEnv modules will not be loaded any more, but instead the Spack-based setup will be made default with the following modules loaded by default (note the new naming scheme!):

spack/release/21.1.1 intel/19.0 intel-mkl/2019 intel-mpi/2019

Note also possibly newer versions of libraries and applications. See https://doku.lrz.de/display/PUBLIC/Spack+Modules+Release+21.1.1 for a complete list of available modules.

To avoid misconfigured jobs starting execution, the job queue will be deleted at the beginning of the maintenance. You will therefore need to resubmit your jobs after suitable modification of your SLURM scripts.
