SuperMUC-NG software environment update
Update
Due to an issue that turned up at the last minute, the roll-out of the new module command version has been rescheduled to March 4, 2021.
Dear users of SuperMUC-NG and CoolMUC-3,
On the morning of February 24, an update to the software environment will be rolled out. The following user-visible changes are included:
- The release version of the "module" command is updated to 4.6.1, with many bug fixes and user interface improvements
- The "intel" modules are updated with default settings for Fortran I/O buffering that improve overall I/O performance.
- Intel OneAPI 2021.1 can now also be used on SuperMUC-NG and CoolMUC-3, through a "module load intel-oneapi". The site-specific documentation will be duly updated.
- In some cases, "module switch" will not work any more due to a change of dependency handling. If this happens, please replace the "switch" by a "module unload", followed by a "module load".
This release is also necessary in view of future provisioning of new versions of the spack-based software stack.
