Experten:in (m/w/d) für parallele Programmierumgebungen und Bibliotheken

Aufgabenspektrum:

  • Installation, Qualitäts- und Performance-Verifikation von Kommunikations- bzw. Message-Passing Bibliotheken (MPI, GPI, Global Arrays, OpenShmem, OpenCoarrays etc.) auf den HPC Systemen des LRZ
  • Aufsetzen von Tools, Workflows und Weiterentwicklung einer Testsuite für die Analyse, Isolierung und Klassifizierung von Performance- und Funktionsproblemen der Kommunikationsschicht der obengenannten Bibliotheken
    • Forschungsaktivitäten mit Fokus auf neuere Entwicklungen der Programmiermodelle (z.B. Fault Tolerance)
    • Unterstützung bei der Entwicklung von containerisierten Lösungen für parallele HPC-Applikationen
    • Fehlerverfolgung für identifizierte Softwareprobleme (über Ticketsysteme der Hersteller)
    • Verbesserung der Integration der Kommunikationsbibliotheken mit dem am LRZ eingesetzten SLURM-Stapelverarbeitungssystem
    • Sicherstellung der Service-Qualität der parallelen Programmierumgebung (insbesondere nach Systemwartungen)
    • Pflege und Weiterentwicklung der Nutzerdokumentation zum Thema „optimale Ausführung paralleler Programme“  

Scientific Employee (f/m/d) for Education and Training 

In cooperation with the training experts at LRZ and the other two German federal supercomputing centres in Jülich and Stuttgart, you will analyse, develop and expand the existing training portfolio of LRZ and GCS. The position will be funded through the European project EuroCC (EuroHPC National Competence Centres) in Task 2.2 “Training and Skills Development”. As task leader you will coordinate the team of people contributing to the task and focus on extending and promoting the training activities to support users in academia and industry.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

As part of your work in the EuroCC project you will:

  • analyse and catalogue the current state-of-the-art in HPC, HPDA and AI training in Germany and Europe
  • collect and share best practices, available resources and mechanisms for training
  • identify new participants from academia and industry, esp. SMEs
  • identify missing topics, domains and course formats for the target audiences
  • create new dissemination channels to promote the training activities and reach out to a broader audience in academia and industry
  • integrate the target audiences in the design loop with domain specific workshops and round table discussions
  • compile and offer tailored courses and workshops
  • develop new course formats like hackathons, MOOCs, webinars, pre-recorded lectures and other e-learning methods
  • support the course and workshop planning, organisation, administration and dissemination at LRZ
  • work closely with the training staff and technical experts from LRZ and the other GCS centres
  • interact with vendors and academic partners from German and European universities and research institutes

Computer Scientist or IT Specialist (f/m/d) for Big Data/AI 

The position will be situated in the European project EuroCC (EuroHPC National Competence Centres) in Task 2.5 “Mapping of HPC/Big Data/AI Technical Competences in Germany”. Apart from investigating the current situation of HPC, Big Data and AI technologies and competences you will also gain a deep insight into the shaping and development of Big Data and AI services for the German scientific ecosystem. As such we will welcome you as new team member in LRZ’s Big Data und Artificial Intelligence Team.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • As part of your work in EuroCC you will

- conduct a study of the existing High Performance Computing (HPC), Big Data Analytics (BD) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) competences in Germany

-  implement and maintain a map of competences

- supporting interested entities to get in touch with the respective experts,

- assure that the outcomes of this task will directly support specific target tasks.

  • As talk lead you will coordinate the team of people contributing to and drive the efforts to reach the he tasks’ goals.
  • You will work closely with domain specific experts from LRZ and the other GCS centres to understand already existing and further growing HPC, BD and AI competences
  • Close interaction with partners from Bavarian universities researching in the HPC, BD and domains will complete your activities
