SuperMUC-NG: Maintenance Nov 27/28 is completed
Update (Nov 28, 17:00)
The system is available for regular operation again. Please also read the updates below.
Dear users of SuperMUC-NG and SuperMUC,
for the next step of service improvements for SuperMUC-NG, a maintenance was scheduled: On November 27, 2019, starting at 8:00 am, the system will become unavailable for one day.
A second maintenance originally planned for December 3-5, 2019 was cancelled because a necessary software component is not yet available.
Please note that this reduces the timeframe for transferring data from SuperMUC to SuperMUC-NG. In December,
there remain 17 working days (out of 28 calendar days) to finalize such transferrals. We therefore strongly urge
all users to complete the migration of all user data still needed from all SuperMUC file systems.
After the maintenance, the following user-visible changes will be implemented:
- improvements/bug fixes for EAR usage (particularly, improved support for OpenMPI and removal of LD_PRELOAD use)
- a minor update to the spack based software stack is still outstanding and will be delivered next week.
- Intel MPI default version lifted to 2019 update 6, with some critical bug fixes.
Note: an originally planned update of the module system was reverted, because it caused too much breakage.
