Linux Cluster: CooLMUC-3 (mostly) maintenance January 14-18, 2019

Status update (Jan 18, 17:00)

Unfortunately return to user operation is delayed, due to problems with the high performance network.

Dear users of the Linux Cluster Systems at LRZ,

hereby the following service interruptions are announced:

the CoolMUC-3 system will be unavailable for user operation between January 14 and 18, 2019, due to a scheduled software maintenance.

This service interruption applies for lxlogin8 and impacts the following SLURM partitions:

SLURM ClusterSLURM partitions
inter mpp3_inter
mpp3 mpp3_batch
httf httf_batch
htus htus_batch
kcs_nim kcs_nim_batch

These partitions will be drained in advance of the service interruption (i.e. jobs that would not complete until the maintenance starts will not be initiated).

The purpose of the maintenance is to upgrade the operating environment to SLES 12 Service Pack 4, and GPFS to version 5.

IvyMUC, RVS, teramem

The IvyMUC, RVS and teramem systems will be unavailable for operation on January 14, 2019. This service interruption is needed for a reconfiguration of GPFS services targeted at improving overall file system stability.
