"Global warming – Glaciers – Change of mountain runoff"
Monitoring and modelling results - ISBN 3 7696 3500 0

The content of this multimedia CD-ROM is based on research related to the impact of climate changes on glaciers and hydrology of high mountain areas. This work was carried out and supported by the Bavarian climate research project BayFORKLIM conducted from 1991 to 1998. The complete final report of the KfG is included on the CD (in German only).

Additionally you will find posters, HTML-text, maps and partly animated illustrations, complementary information and research results concerning the methodology of runoff modelling in glaciated catchments and long-term monitoring of the KfG at Vernagtferner and the Bavarian Alps.

Among others the HBV-runoff model, mass balance data of the Vernagtferner and 3D pictures produced with the anaglyph technique are included.

The program package with the HBV3-ETH9- precipitation runoff model included on the CD-ROM will not run on fast modern PCs with a processor over 800MHz. This restriction can be repaired easily with help of the offered program up-date, so that the model can also be used on modern Windows-PC´s!

"Glaciology in 3D"
Unusual insights into the glacier world in form of a 3D-slideshow, 360°-panoramas, master copies for two large sized 3D-calenders, background information in detailed PDF-documents and lots more...
ISBN 3 7696 3501 9

This CD-ROM is a considerably extended successor of CDR KfG 2000A and available since 2002. You will experience the appearance of glaciers and their changes under present and future climatic conditions and the resulting consequences in an unconventional way.

The CD-ROM presents glaciers, glaciological phenomena and insights in glacier research at the KfG, as well as other results, using brilliant pictures with a real three-dimensional effect in an optimised resolution. An animated slideshow with about 100 full-screen 3D-pictures and animations leads through glaciological topics. Presented are the Bavarian glaciers, the glaciers of the inner Ötztal valley, esp. the Vernagtferner and its development, classic features like moraines, crevasses, glacier portals, glacier tables and surface structures of the ice. The methodology of glacier research is demonstrated, and the giant glaciers of the Pamir range are presented on processed high-resolution satellite pictures. Besides that, two large calendars (DIN A3 size) can be produced. 360°-panoramas make a climbe to virtual Vernagtferner possible. Panoramas show glaciers at the Zugspitze and the changes of the Ötztal valley ice-giants during the last 120 years. An 80 pages PDF-document provides all necessary information in order to produce your own 3D-pictures...
