Congresses

One essential task of the Institute is to make the communication within the scholarly community easier. This is achieved by regular updates via the BMCL and, since 1958, by means of congresses on the subject of medieval canon law. After initially taking place every five years, since 1968 congresses have been held every four years alternating between  the US and Europe. The goal is to aid in the discussion and presentation of research progress.
