Quickstart - from Zero to Visualisation in three Easy Steps

 

You want to start using the remote visualisation system? Great! Just take a few minutes to read through this page. Here, you will learn how to prepare your client (you need to install software on your client PC), log on to the remote visualisation server and start your favourite visualisation application.

This section describes the easiest way to get started on the remote visualisation system - you will get a remote desktop for one hour where you can start any of the installed visualisation applications by simple pointing and clicking. If you want to learn more, you can read the other sections where you can learn how the whole set-up works and what you can do to enhance performance. This "Quickstart" section is written for the newbie and gives a detailled step-by-step procedure, so without further ado, here you go:

In the shortest form, this is what you have to do:

  1. Install TurboVNC and set a vncpassword.
  2. Log on to the remote visualisation server and enter 'rvnc' to start a session on the remote visualisation server.
  3. Connect your client PC to the remote desktop and click on any of the icons on the desktop to start your favorite visualisation application.
